摘要:Detector for detecting extremely weak microwaves consists of a semi-conductor element to which a bias voltage is applied while in the microwave field are located a frequency superposing device and a measuring signal so that an intermediate frequency signal that is proportional to the measured microwave signal is produced by the mixing of the bias voltage and the micro-wave field. Specifically the detector element consists of a material in which no thermal and magnetic release of charge carriers occurs, in which magnetic field induced transport anomaly (Wigner condensation) appears and which has a markedly non-linear current voltage characteristic. The detector is placed in a magnetic field whose field direction is parallel to the applied bias voltage. The detector is exposed to low temps. Pref. the detector compsn. is Hg(1-x). Te(x is 0-1) or Pb(1-x) Sn x Te(x is 0-1). used for analysis of cosmic microwave radiation, or for use in medicine to resolve the body temp. and the body emission of microwave radiation where bolometers of sensitivity below 10,000 where required. The sensitivity and response required are achieved with an improvement of a factor of 10.
