摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out the production or modification of a polymeric product under accurately controlled conditions until a desired degree of conversion or modification attains according to an infrared-attenuated total reflection(IR-ATR) spectroscopic method by a specific method. SOLUTION: In the case of a polymeric reaction, the absorbance of IR absorption bands respectively characteristic of monomers used and that of a polymeric product are measured. In the case of the polymeric modification, the IR absorption bands respectively characteristic of the starting material and the modified polymer are measured. In the process, the IR-ATR measurement is directly carried out in a short period under conditions so that the viscosity of the contents of a stirred reactional vessel is 10,000 Pas at the maximum and the flow velocity is 0.01-10 m/s measured at a position of an immersion probe by using the immersion probe in the stirred reactional vessel. The degree of conversion or modification is calculated from the resultant measured values according to formulae I and II [M(t) is the degree of modification; U(t) is the degree of conversion; A(t0 ) and A(t) are each the absorbance of the absorption bands of the monomer or starting material at the time of initiating the reaction and the time t] to terminate the reaction when a desired degree of conversion or modification is attained.
